Shipping Policy

Last updated

This Shipping Policy describes how Deliverail collects, transports and delivers parcels using a rail-led network across India.

This document applies to your use of Deliverail ("we", "us") — the operator of this service. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. If anything is unclear, contact support@deliverail.in and we will help.

1. Service area

We currently operate between Bangalore, Pune, Mumbai, Surat and Udupi. Both the pickup and delivery pincodes must fall within our serviceable areas, which are validated at the time you request a quote.

2. How rail-led delivery works

Each shipment moves in three legs: a first-mile pickup from your door, a long-distance rail line-haul on a scheduled train, and a last-mile delivery to the receiver. This model lets us offer lower prices and a smaller carbon footprint than road-only courier services.

3. Pickup and cut-off times

Pickups are scheduled against the connecting train service. Bookings placed after the daily cut-off, or on days without a connecting service, are picked up on the next available pickup window. Cut-off times are shown during booking.

4. Transit times

Estimated delivery dates are calculated from train schedules and historical performance. They are indicative and may be affected by rail operations, weather, public holidays or events beyond our control. Live tracking and notifications keep you informed of progress.

5. Packaging requirements

Parcels must be packed to withstand normal rail handling: cushioned, sealed and labelled clearly. Fragile items should be marked and protected. Inadequate packaging may lead to damage that is not covered under our Insurance Terms.

6. Weight, dimensions and shipment types

Charges are based on chargeable weight and the shipment type selected at booking. Oversized or overweight parcels may require special handling and additional charges. Declared weight and dimensions must match the actual parcel; discrepancies found at pickup may be re-rated.

7. Restricted and prohibited items

In addition to items prohibited by law and Indian Railways parcel rules, we do not carry cash, bullion, hazardous or flammable goods, explosives, illegal substances, most perishables, live animals, or any item whose carriage is restricted by regulation. We may refuse or return non-compliant shipments.

8. Delivery and proof of delivery

Delivery is made to the receiver address provided at booking. We may capture proof of delivery such as a confirmation or signature. If the receiver is unavailable, we will re-attempt delivery in line with our operating procedures before returning the parcel.
